Engrossing content that is targeted in its approach can help brands get noticed. This was proved true by CouponDunia, the coupon website when it decided to reach out to viewers through advertisements on YouTube. But like it is for all brands, for CouponDunia too it was a challenge to make people watch the whole ad instead of skipping it.

But CouponDunia found a way out of this dilemma through an innovative content marketing solution. The results were overwhelming. 32 per cent viewers watched the complete ads as against an average of 17 per cent. 50 TrueView ads were created targeting different genres.

So just how did the coupon site manage this feat? The solution was all about one idea, 2 actors and 50 different ads targeted at 50 most subscribed YouTube channels.

Highlighting the success of the campaign, Nitin Bawankule, Director, E-Commerce and Media, Google India, said, “The content was so engrossing that over 32 per cent of viewers did not skip the ad and saw the entire content, which was way above the average 17 per cent. Within the first month itself the campaign attracted more than 10.3 million viewers.”

The CouponDunia video ads were unique to each channel they were showcased on.  For example, if one was going to watch an episode of AIB, the characters in the ad would talk about the show, before going on to endorse the brand. In each of the 50 customized ads, the characters then notify the viewers that they have the option of skipping the rest of the video ad, or they could click on the 'Save' icon on the screen and be directed to the CouponDunia homepage where they could avail a variety of offers and discounts.
