The order among the top five Hindi GECs for Week 40 (October 3-October 9) of BARC ratings witnessed one change with Sony Entertainment Television back among the top five channels, placed in fifth spot. Meanwhile, Colors narrowed the gap with leader Star Plus.

According to select data (HSM : NCCS All : Individuals : BARC India base – C&S 1Lac+), Star Plus lost 22 million viewership but managed to retain its top spot with a gross viewership of 403 million in Week 40.

Colors is snapping at the heels of Star Plus again as the channel garnered a gross viewership of 397 million in Week 40.

Zee TV, which had secured grow viewership of 236 million last week, saw a growth in viewership this week, registering a gross viewership of 253 million.

Life OK continued to be placed fourth with a gross viewership of 231 million.  Sony Entertainment Television was placed fifth with a gross viewership of 176 million in Week 40.

Top 5 programmes

There was new leader in the top five programmes on Hindi GECs.

According to select data (HSM : NCCS All : Prime Time (1800 - 2330 hrs) : Individuals : BARC India base - C&S 1Lac+), Colors' show 'Swaragini' emerged as the surprise leader with a viewership of 6,760 (rating in sum of 000s).

Star Plus' 'Saath Nibhana Saathiya' slipped to the second spot with a viewership of 6,713 (rating in sum of 000s).

Colors' show 'Sasural Simar Ka' climbed to the third spot with a viewership of 6,195 (rating in sum of 000s).

Zee TV's 'Kumkum Bhagya' dropped two places to be placed fourth with a viewership of 6,092 (rating in sum of 000s).

Star Plus' show 'Diya aur Baati Hum' remained in the fifth spot with a viewership of 5,797 (rating in sum of 000s).
