Red FM has rolled out an interesting campaign, christened 'Red FM Bajaa, Machchar Bhagaa', to create noise around the menace of Dengue and Malaria during the monsoon season.

Red FM will be mixing a sound along with the station music at a certain frequency between 14 kHz and 20 kHz. These frequencies mimic the sound of the flapping wings of a dragonfly, the natural mosquito predator.

An aspiring scientist and a student of Physics, Debojoti Shekhar Basu, appeared on the evening show 'DL935' with RJ Ashish and explained that sounds transmitted at 14KhZ becomes unbearable to mosquitoes and when listeners tune into Red FM, their radio set gets converted into a mosquito repellent.

Ravinder Gupta, Mayor of Municipal Corporation of Delhi (North), has come forward to applaud Red FM's RJ Ashish for such out-of-the-box thinking and extended support to this unique campaign and announced an extensive fumigation drive across Delhi. Speaking on this campaign, he said, “First of all I would like to congratulate the Red FM team for creating this awareness campaign for the benefit of Delhiites. MCD is also running a number of awareness drives in which one of them is reaching out to all the weekly bazaars across all localities in Delhi where people from all strata of the society come. We put up stalls, distribute flyers, announce through mega mikes and educate them on the various means to protect oneself from Dengue and Malaria mosquitos. I hear Red FM quite often and feel that it truly is the backbone of Delhi as it picks up all the relevant issues from time to time and understands the pulse of Delhiites.”

Red FM has asked its listeners to click selfies of locations prone to mosquito breeding. The same picture needs to be sent on WhatsApp number 7531935935, which will be later shared with the MCD Mayor to execute the fumigation drive in these specific areas.

Speaking on the initiative, Nisha Narayanan, COO, Red FM, said, “It's a very interesting idea per se. With the ever changing technology and new innovations happening, we have experimented by taking up this initiative and we have received enormous response from our listeners. The aim is also to sample the product to new listeners and I am glad that is happening on the strength of our out-of-the-box thinking capabilities.”
