News Watch: ET Now snapping at CNBC-TV18’s heels as gap narrows

India Today Television drops out of the top 3 English news channels’ list as CNN-IBN makes a return

English news genre witnessed some interesting changes in Week 33 of BARC ratings. Just one point separates leader CNBC-TV18 and ET Now. In the English general news space, NDTV 24x7 rose to the No. 2 spot.

According to select data (All India : NCCS AB : Males 22+ : Week 33 : Individuals : BARC India base - C&S 1Lac+), CNBC-TV18 leads the English business news genre with 213 TVT, losing 29 TVT from last week.

ET Now missed the top spot by a solitary point at 212 TVT, gaining 47 TVT compared to last week’s 165 TVT.

NDTV Profit and NDTV Prime gained 10 TVT from last week, but were placed a distant third with 55 TVT.

Meanwhile, as per select data ( HSM : NCCS AB : Males 22+ : Individuals : BARC India base - C&S 1Lac+), the hierarchy in the Hindi business news segment remained unchanged. CNBC Awaaz lost 153 TVT from last week as it posted 926 TVT in Week 33.

Zee Business gained 167 TVT from last week as it posted 836 TVT in Week 33.

According to select data (All India : NCCS AB : Males 22+ : Week 33 : Individuals : BARC India base - C&S 1Lac+) for English news channels, Times Now expanded its domination to 548 TVT, a gain of 174 TVT from last week.

NDTV 24x7, which had posted 158 TVT last week, rose to the second spot with 216 TVT. CNN-IBN returned to the top 3 with 151 TVT, this meant that India Today Television dropped out of the top 3 list.
