BARC ratings: Times Now roars back to No. 1 in Week 23

In Hindi news, Aaj Tak retains leadership by a close margin. CNBC TV18 and CNBC Awaaz were at the top of English and Hindi Business news genres, respectively

With the release of BARC India's individual ratings data beginning Week 21, the television news genre is witnessing interesting trends. Adding to that, the launch of India Today Television along with individual ratings data has made English news genre more interesting. While Week 21 had Times Now as the leader, in Week 22 India Today Television had emerged as the new leader among English news channels, according to the data publicly available on BARC India website. Now in Week 23, Times Now is back at No. 1 taking a big lead over competition.

According to select data publicly available on BARC India's website for Week 23 (June 6 – June 12) for All India, NCCS AB, Male 22+ Individuals, C&S 1L+, Times Now returned to the top by recording a gross rating of 490 TVTs. The second most watched channel, India Today Television, recorded 151 TVTs followed by NDTV 24x7 with 129 TVTs.

The Hindi news genre witnessed close gaps among top 3 channels. While Aaj Tak retained the top slot with 28,366 TVTs, India TV followed closely at No. 2 with 27,514 TVTs. ABP News came third with 27,074 TVTs (Source: BARC, Week 23, HSM, NCCS All Individuals, C&S 1L+).

Among English Business News channels, CNBC TV18 was sitting at the top with 182 TVTs followed by ET Now with 153 TVTs and NDTV Profit and NDTV Prime with 22 TVTs (Source: BARC, Week 23, All India, NCCS AB, Male 22+ Individuals, C&S 1L+).

With 984 TVTs, CNBC Awaaz led the Hindi Business News genre with a big margin over Zee Business that recorded 451 TVTs (Source: BARC, Week 23, 6 mega cities, NCCS AB, Male 22+ Individuals, C&S 1L+).
