Bharat Ranga, Chief Content & Creative Officer at Zee Entertainment Enterprises (ZEEL), has decided to leave the company after a 16-year stint. The news was confirmed by the company in an official communique. His last day at the organisation will be October 7, 2014, and all verticals and functions that currently report to him will now report to Punit Goenka, MD & CEO, ZEEL.

Speaking about his tenure at ZEEL, Ranga said, “I have turned 16 in the Zee family this year, and I am confident that all the values and experiences that Zee has imparted will stand me in good stead. I am immensely proud of the existing and new talents that together have made our Zee family very solid and competitive. I am very thankful to the Chairman, Vice-Chairman and Punit who have always backed us in our pursuits to achieve organisational goals and attain personal growth. I sincerely wish Zee all the success in the years ahead.”

Ranga assumed the content role at ZEEL in 2012, managing the content business for all domestic entertainment channels of the network. Prior to this, he was Executive Director, International Operations, for close to five years. The work there involved leading and managing the international business of the Zee Group in 167 countries, with offices spread over 15 countries comprising 175 people.

“Since 1998, Bharat has been an invaluable member of the Zee family. During his career span with us, Bharat has contributed to the overall growth of the organisation by leveraging new revenue opportunities, bringing about path-breaking content, starting new streams of content through new channel launches and transcending the business beyond geographies. Bharat had the capability to move with ease in managing the environment and challenges. We wish to sincerely thank him for the valuable contribution he made to the organisation,” Goenka said.
