Zee Khana Khazana, a 24-hour premium food channel, has yet another delicious surprise for its ardent viewers. 'The Great Indian Rasoi', a travel food show hosted by Chef Ranveer Brar, will launch on July 6, 2014 at 9 PM. Chef Brar will be seen rediscovering the flavours of India not in a modular kitchen but in the actual rasois (kitchens) of India as he travels across the country. The show promises to revive age-old culinary traditions, giving viewers a peep into local kitchens across the expanse of seven completely variant regions.

In India, families bond over food. We thank God before every meal we eat. Food, in India, is all about happiness created in the kitchen. This is exactly what Chef Brar will showcase in his new show. The audience will experience a passionate chef humbly cooking along with 95-year-old khansamas (cooks) in Lucknow on one hand and nonchalantly going out distributing breads in south Goa on the other. Chef Brar will be seen partaking in a langar at the Golden Temple, cooking and serving devotees enabling a spiritual culinary experience in Amritsar. He absorbs and spreads the joy and abundance of food through this show.

Chef Brar is an experienced and passionate chef who has travelled the world. He started his career by cooking street food and it is this humility that makes him endearing and develops an instant connect with the audience. His unique perspective on food and storytelling ability lends an attractive character to his encounters with different families, religions, festivals and generations that have played an important role in keeping alive the revered flavours of India.

Amit Nair, Business Head, Zee Khana Khazana, said, “The Great Indian Rasoi is our attempt to rediscover the flavours of India through its diverse cuisine and culture. In this show we talk about the nature of the cuisine and what influenced it to have the identity it has today. Unheard and never seen before food stories on television is the USP of this show along with Ranveer's persona. Every episode of The Great India Rasoi will be a discovery of a new kitchen, new flavours and new stories.”

Chef Brar commented, “There is a little known and a lot unknown that unfolds through every single episode of the show. While some call it an art and some call it survival, some make it in the name of lord and some keep it to bring the family together; in some parts it's for the royal and in some it's loved by the commoner. It's one common love our nation shares - food!”
