It is reliably learnt from sources close to the development that KS Chakravarthy, National Creative Director, FCB Ulka, has put in his papers after almost seven years with the agency. Though there is no official confirmation from either side, it is also learnt that Chax may be involved in some form with the agency even after his formal departure, the modalities for which are being worked out.

Chax, as is popularly known, joined FCBUlka in July 2008 as NCD. He began his advertising career immediately after graduation in 1980, as a copy trainee with Clarion-McCann. He joined JWT as its youngest Creative Director to head its key Bangalore office in 1986 and moved to Leo Burnett, Mumbai in 1992, where he was National Creative Director till 2001.

Under his creative leadership Burnett rapidly grew into one of the most awarded agencies in India, winning one of the country's earliest Cannes Lions, several One Shows and a slew of awards at national and regional Asian shows.

He left Burnett in 2001 to set up Persistence of Vision, a very successful ad film production house, and was voted one of India's most respected ad film directors. He returned to advertising for a three-year stint with Rediffusion DYR, during which the agency won India's first D&AD Silver Pencil nomination as well as several Cannes Lions, including a Gold in Outdoor. It also topped the table at Goafest 2007.

In the course of his career he has worked on some legendary Indian brands, including current clients Tata Docomo, Tata Motors and FMCG major ITC, as well as international brands like Coke, Cadbury, Lever, P&G, Goodyear and Reebok.
