RJ-MeenakshiRJ Meenakshi is very excited, and understandably so. After all, she has just been chosen to represent India at International Radio Festival in Zurich, the third Indian RJ to win this honour. She left for Zurich on Tuesday. BestMediaInfo.com caught up with RJ Meenakshi on the day she left.

When asked how she felt, Meenakshi excitedly said, “I am speechless, overwhelmed! Representing my country at IRF feels like I have won the national award or an Oscar. I am enjoying this feeling now.”

Meenakshi is the winner of 'The Sound of India@IRF2014', a competition which had around 100 entries from radio jocks and radio show producers from more than 70 private and public FM radio stations all over India. Meenakshi said, “It was not very easy for me to win the contest but I managed to succeed. I think my show is different from other shows because it comprises everything from national news to international news, from Bollywood gossip to sports. Also, there are radio editorials which are unique in my show.”

For Meenakshi the job of RJ is not only entertaining people but also spreading awareness about what is going on in our society. She is from My FM's Chandigarh statin and hosts the breakfast show 'Salaam Chandigarh' from 7 AM to 11 AM. Her power packed show starts with a motivational story followed by national, international, sports and Bollywood updates with funny entertaining takes and trivia.

So what would she do in Zurich? Pat comes her reply, “I will do exactly the same things that I do on my show. Basically I am going to highlight my show at the international festival in my own Punjabi style as I am representing my country over there. But I will speak in English and will try my best to make my show successful.”

Harrish Bhatia, CEO of 94.3 My FM, proudly said, “We are very excited that we have such a talent like Meenakshi. She is the first ever RJ in India who has crossed 1 lakh 'likes' on Facebook. She is a talent that is unparalleled.”

When asked about the promotional activities around this achievement, Bhatia said, “We have done various promotional activities at the national level. We will do some at the state level once she is back from Zurich.”
