Dr Arvin Boolell, Mauritian Minister of Foreign Affairs, Regional Integration and International Foreign Trade, recently launched 'Life Money Can't Buy', a coffee table book by Mitrajit Bhattacharya, Publisher and President of the Chitralekha Group, at an event in Mauritius. The evening was hosted by Ravin Lama and Bhawana Maskey, Directors, Mind Initiates, and was attended by the crème de la crème of Mauritius including industrialists, business persons and state representatives.

Bhattacharya's first book has been launched internationally barely a year of its India launch. After receiving a heart warming reception from the Indian audience, the book is now all set to enthral the Mauritian people. The book was launched in India by actor Shabana Azmi in Mumbai on April 16, 2013. The evening, hosted by Maulik Kotak, Chitralekha Group's Chairman, was attended by the city's glitterati.

The book takes the reader through an extraordinary life lived by an ordinary mortal and consists of eleven astounding stories. From being enchanted by a mermaid frolicking around a yacht in the waters off the coast of Capri to flying a jet in Switzerland, from cheering in a game of polo with Maharajas for company to having his own 'wonderland' moment with the Great Wall of China as the backdrop, this book is Mitrajit Bhattacharya's expression of the fascinating adventures he has encountered while pursuing his assignments.

A storyteller at heart, the book is Bhattacharya's way of telling the world that if you really believe in strange, fascinating and unforgettable adventures, they are likely to come your way. Take a peek into a world in which things happen that the thickness of your wallet can't dictate but your willingness to do the extraordinary. Next time an adventure comes knocking on your door, keep your bags ready for the same, like Mitrajit has done.

Talking about his book, Bhattacharya said, “This book is a journey of my life over the past decade or so. It's about the out-of-the box experiences I was fortunate to have covering the 'luxe' world criss-crossing continents.”

Ravin Lama commented, "I am sure those who browse through the book will initially be envious of the author but soon admire him and may even want to follow his experiences. If given a chance, I would. I am happy to be a part of the launch of this book in our beautiful country, Mauritius. Hope he touches newer shores with his captivating stories."

Bhattacharya's initiation into media was purely accidental. A marketing professional with experience of working for diverse organisations such as ICI Paints and ORG-MARG (now AC Nielsen), he went for a casual chat at the ABP Group in Kolkata, publishers of The Telegraph and Ananda Bazar Patrika, and moved into the world of media. His stint in media has brought to the fore his passion and love for watches. His writing on this subject is fluid, making him one of the most influential commentators in the world of horology.

He earns his living as Publisher and President of the Chitralekha Group, a publishing house which boasts of the largest circulated and widely read regional language weeklies besides English magazines. His insight into the world of timekeeping and things associated with it has led him to start his co-owned consultancy, The Horologists. He also creates content for television. He lives in Mumbai when not travelling.
