GroupM APAC hires two top digital leaders

Eric Snelleman and Jan-Willem Borsboom fill new positions that have been created, and they will run digital trading and operations efforts across the region

GroupM Asia Pacific today announced the joining of two seasoned digital communications experts to run digital trading and operations efforts across the region, effective immediately. Eric Snelleman was named Head of Digital Trading for GroupM APAC, and Jan-Willem Borsboom has been appointed Head of Digital Operations.

Snelleman will be based in Hong Kong while Borsboom will work out of GroupM’s Singapore office. Both are new positions for GroupM APAC.

Snelleman joins GroupM from Europe, where he most recently worked as Head of Digital Trading for GroupM in the Netherlands. In his new role, he will be responsible for working with local digital and trading teams as well as evaluating, developing and implementing local digital trading strategies for GroupM across the region. He also will work closely with regional and global media such as Facebook and Google to develop and implement new trading strategies.

Snelleman and Borsboom will both report to Andrew Meaden, Regional Director of GroupM APAC, and to Rudiger Wanck, Global Digital Chief Operating Officer.

“As head of digital trading, Eric will be responsible for ensuring we have best in class digital trading across APAC,” Meaden said in making the announcement. “Historically, we’ve focused mostly on television, but clients are quickly moving into digital so we need to ensure that we can deliver value just as effectively across the internet.”

Borsboom joins GroupM from Talpa Digital Radio/538 Group in the Netherlands, where he served as Digital Director. In that role he was responsible for all digital developments in the 538 Group, which consisted of more than 20 radio stations (both digital and linear) and two television stations.

“As Head of Digital Operations, Jan-Willem will work closely with Eric and ensure that GroupM has the best digital tools, technology, and campaign stewardship systems in place to serve our clients,” Meaden said.  “We are thrilled that someone with his extensive digital expertise has decided to join us.”

Rudiger Wanck said, “Digital communications in all its forms, and especially in trading, has become central to the operations of all GroupM agencies in the APAC region. Our goal is to create a digital leadership team that reflects the growth of digital as part of our clients’ investment portfolios and to ensure that their needs are met.  Both Eric and Jan-Willem will play a key role in achieving that goal.”
