All rating agencies, including the existing rating agency, shall require registration in accordance with the terms and conditions prescribed under these guidelines

tv-channelsMinistry of Information and Broadcasting has formulated policy guidelines for Television Rating Agencies to operate in India. These guidelines shall be applicable to all rating agencies providing television rating services in India and shall come into force after 30 days from the date of issuance of the same. All rating agencies, including the existing rating agency, shall require registration from the Ministry of Information and Broadcasting in accordance with the terms and conditions prescribed under these guidelines.

The Guidelines include eligibility criteria, registration process, conditions and obligations, methodology for audience measurement, panel selection, secrecy and privacy of panels, transparency of procedures adopted for selection of panel homes and the rotation of the panel homes, effective complaint redressal system, Appointment or designation of Nodal Officer, norms related to sale and use of ratings among other important guidelines.
