The Directorate of Advertising & Visual Publicity (DAVP), the nodal agency for multi-media advertising and publicity for various ministries and departments of the Government of India, has appointed K Ganesan as its new Director General. Prior to this appointment, Ganesan was Press Registrar of RNI.
Ganesan replaces G Mohanty, who has sought voluntary retirement. Mohanty was appointed DG, DAVP in January last year.
The development becomes significant in the view of the upcoming General Elections. DAVP manages government ads worth more than Rs 750 crore annually. Some of the autonomous bodies also route their advertisements through DAVP.
