CirkusMarko Klijn, Executive Producer at Cirkus in Auckland, New Zealand, is returning to Adfest this year to host an animation workshop titled “How to create an animated spot in time and on budget” Klijn will introduce the session by showcasing some of the most unrealistic briefs from Cirkus' pitch folder.

“We all want great work but expectations and feedback impact heavily on what can be achieved. This workshop hits the reset button by giving participants the chance to play the Cirkus Animation Game. The objective of this board game is to get the best creative work done within limited production perimeters,” said Klijn.

Klijn has worked in the animation industry for 16 years, founding Cirkus in 2006. He is passionate about storytelling, design and character animation, and helms a company thatprides itself on breaking the rules.

Klijn will also sit on the Film Craft Lotus and New Director Lotus Jury at Adfest this year.

“How to create an animated spot in time and on budget” will take place on Friday, March 7, 2014.  Seats are limited and sign-up is first-come-first-served.  Applicants must be registered delegates of Adfest.

Participants in the workshop will be put in teams and assigned a client, creative brief and budget. From there, they can build spots by mixing production techniques, designs and render styles and find out how much animation their money buys in the process. The team that creates the best spot within time and budget wins.

“The Cirkus Animation Game is an opportunity for delegates to be creative while learning about budgets for animated commercials. The workshop is highly interactive and will give participants the practical skills they need to create more creative animations,” said Jimmy Lam, Adfest President.
