According to TVT data sourced from TAM subscribers for Week 38 (September 15 - September 21) for the CS 4+, HSM markets, Star Plus strengthened its hold in weekdays programming with 5 shows in the top 10 list buoyed by a strong opening for its latest fiction offering, Mahabharat. Zee TV and Colors had two shows each while SAB TV had one show in the top 10 weekday shows.

Star Plus' magnum opus, Mahabharat, pulled in 8,445 TVTs for the opening episode to become the highest rated weekday fiction show in the last three years on Indian television. The show averaged 6,356 TVTs in its opening week. The epic hit the right chord with the youth getting 849 TVTs amongst females in the 15-24 age group and 574 TVTs among males in the same age group.

Among weekend programming, Premiere Night of Bigg Boss 7 was the most watched show on Sunday, September 15, 2013. The premiere night fetched a viewership of 7,711 TVTs and was the highest viewed launch episode of Bigg Boss across all its previous seasons according to TVT. Comedy Nights with Kapil was at No. 2 with a viewership of 7,244 TVTs. Sony's Crime Patrol rose to No. 3 on the back of the episode based on the Delhi gang rape case. Zee TV's new dance reality show, Dance Ka Tashan, opened at 5,021 TVTs and came in at No. 6.

Weekday toppers (all data in TVT in 000's)

Diya Aur Baati Hum on Star Plus strengthened its position at No. 1 in Week 38. The show fetched 9,819 TVT this week (last week 8,803).

Jodha Akbar on Zee TV too added more viewers this week and continued to hold the second position strongly. The show registered 8,025 TVTs in week 38 (last week 6,981).

Pyaar Ka Dard Hai on Star Plus held No. 3 position with an average TVT of 7,342 (last week 6,930).

SAB's Taarak Mehta ka Ooltah Chashma continued to be at No. 4 with an average TVT of 7,276 against last week's 6,816.

Yeh Rishta Kya Kehlata Hai on Star Plus recovered in Week 38 and climbed one position to No. 5. The show averaged at 6,587 TVT. The show had an average TVT of 6,144 last week.

Colors' Balika Vadhu slipped one position to No. 6 this week despite adding more viewers. The show grew to 6,551 TVTs (last week 6,278).

Star Plus' Saathiya held No. 7 position with an average TVT of 6,456 (last week 6,002).

Star Plus magnum opus, Mahabharat, entered in the top 10 club in its opening week and claimed the No. 8 position. The show opened at 8,445 TVTs and averaged 6,356 TVTs.

Zee TV's Qubool Hai slipped one position to No. 9 with an average TVT of 6,340 (last week 5,956).

Colors' second show in the top 10 club was Sasural Simar Ka. The show fetched an average TVT of 5,214 this week (last week 5,533).

Weekend toppers

Premiere Night of Bigg Boss 7 on Sunday, September 15, 2013 topped the weekend chart with viewership of 7,711 TVTs

Comedy Night with Kapil on Colors was the second most watched show during the weekend with 7,244 TVT (last week 7,215).

Sony's Crime Patrol rose to No. 3 on the back of Delhi gang rape case. The show averaged at 6,415 TVTs this week against last week's 3,739 TVTs.

KBC on Sony garnered an average of 6,134 TVT in the third week of its launch (last week 5,924).

Sony's other crime show, CID, fetched an average TVT of 5,070 (last week 5,391).

Zee TV's new dance reality show, Dance Ka Tashan, opened at 5,021 TVTs and fared at No. 6 among weekend shows.

Life OK's weekend offering, Shapath, grew to 3,988 TVTs against last week's 3,410.

Comedy Circus on Sony fetched 3,092 TVT (last week 3,409).

Fear Files on Zee TV recorded an average TVT of 2,751 (last week 2,521).

Sony's crime show, Adalat, recorded 2,546 TVT (last week 2,491).

Star Plus' crime fiction, Arjun, recorded 2,086 TVT (last week 1,759).

Life OK's other weekend show, Mahadev Putra Bal Ganesh Ke Adventures, recorded 1,815 TVTs (last week 1,412).

Buddha on Zee TV on Sunday 11 AM slot recorded 1,537 TVT (last week 1,450).
