Like other seasons in the past, KBC and the charisma of Amitabh Bachchan have again given a boost to Sony Entertainment Television in its opening week itself. The quiz show, along with the Grand Finale of Indian Idol Junior, has pushed Sony in the comfort zone at No. 4. KBC opened at 8,950 TVT on Friday, September 6, 2013 followed by 8,460 TVT on Saturday and topped the weekend programming chart. The Grand Finale of Indian Idol Junior on Sony rated 6,290 TVTs.

As per TVT data sourced from TAM subscribers for Week 36 (September 1 - September 7) for CS 4+, HSM markets, Star Plus continued to rule the GEC space followed by Colors and Zee TV. Sony replaced SAB TV at No. 4 while Life OK was at No. 6.

Star Plus held the leadership position despite a slight drop in its gross TVT and relative share in comparison to last week. The channel recorded Gross TVT of 495 million and relative share of 21.22% (last week 496 million TVT with 21.99% relative share).

At No. 2, Colors' gross TVT was stable. However, its relative share declined slightly. The channel recorded Gross TVT of 453 million and relative share of 19.42% (last week 453 million TVT with 20.10% relative share).

Zee TV added over 15 million TVTs this week on the back of strong performances of its fiction shows. The channel fetched 411 million of Gross TVT with 17.62% of relative share. The channel had 395 million TVT with relative share of 17.53% last week.

Backed by KBC and Grand Finale of Indian Idol Junior, Sony added 55 million TVTs and jumped to No. 4 position this week. The channel recorded Gross TVT of 346 million with 14.84% relative share (last week 291 million TVT with 12.92% of relative share).
