Sony Entertainment Television was the maximum gainer in terms of viewership in Week 40 of TAM 2013. The channel also rose to No. 5 position this week but failed to beat Life OK which further strengthened its position at No. 4. Zee TV and Colors also added more viewers this week.

As per TVT data sourced from TAM subscribers for Week 40 (September 29 – October 05) for CS 4+, HSM markets, Star Plus, Colors, Zee TV held their No. 1, 2 and 3 spots, respectively. Life OK was followed by Sony and SAB TV at No. 5 and No. 6, respectively.

Week 40 saw the debut of '24' on Colors, recording a viewership of 3.4 million on launch day and 2.8 million for the 2nd episode. Although the show has opened flat on peoplemeters, the good news for Colors is that the Metro and 1mn+ markets have responded positively with a viewership of 2.2 million – contributing to 63 per cent of the overall viewership of the show and 47 per cent of the overall HSM markets, thus clearly indicating a skew.

The acceptability of the format is more pronounced across the upper class audiences in Metros and 1mn + markets, wherein SEC AB has contributed to viewership of 1.4 million on the launch day.

'24' received stiff competition from Sony's longest running crime series, CID, that fetched a thumping 7 million TVTs and became the most watched show on weekends.

Star Plus stayed on top with Gross TVT of 502 million and relative share of 20.78% (last week 506 million TVTs with 21.75% relative share).
