GEC Watch: Star Plus and Colors strengthen their positions as No. 1 and 2

DID Super Moms opens at 3 TVR followed by Jhalak Dikhhla Jaa at 2.4 TVR and Indian Idol Junior at 1.8 TVR. Maharana Pratap opens at 1.5 TVR. IPL Final fares at 7.3 TVR in HSM and 6.9 TVR in All India

Week 22 was the first week after IPL except the final match played on May 26 between Mumbai Indians and Chennai Super Kings that garnered 7.3 TVR in HSM and 6.9 TVR in All India market on Sony Max and Sony Six. With the end of the IPL fever, the high action week saw the launch of three reality shows and one fiction show on Hindi general entertainment channels.

Among the reality shows launched on June 1, DID Super Moms on Zee TV opened at 3 TVR over 90 minutes. The premiere night of Colors' celebrity dance reality show, Jhalak Dikhhla Jaa, scored 2.4 TVR over two and half hours. Sony's Indian Idol Junior opened at 1.8 TVR.

Sony's latest fiction offering, Maharana Pratap, which premiered on May 27, averaged at 1.5 TVR over the week.

According to TAM viewership data sourced from TAM subscribers for Week 22 (May 26 - June 1) for the CS 4+, HSM markets, Star Plus strengthened its leadership while Colors also strengthened its position at No. 2. Zee TV, that was sharing second slot with Colors last week, is at No. 3 this week. Sony remained at No. 4 followed by SAB at No. 5 and Life OK at No. 6. All the three channels – Sony, SAB and Life OK added more eyeballs this week.

Star Plus added maximum 11 points in the week post-IPL and increased its lead margin over the next GECs. The channel fetched 249 GRPs this week (last week 238).

Colors strengthened its position at No. 2 by taking a lead of 10 points over Zee TV. The channel recorded 186 GRPs (last week 184).

Zee TV recorded 176 GRPs this week (last week 184).

Sony Entertainment Television added 5 points with improved programming line-up including Indian Idol Junior and Maharana Pratap. The channel recorded 154 GRPs this week (last week 149).

SAB TV added 10 points and fetched 145 GRPs (last week 135).

With improved ratings of Mahadev, Life OK grew further by 7 points and recorded 137 GRPs this week (last week 130).
