publive-imageDelhi High Court has dismissed the applications filed by Marico Limited, makers of Saffola, against edible oil major Adani Wilmar Limited, makers of Fortune, alleging disparaging of its products under the brand name 'Saffola' through Fortune's TV and print media campaigns.

Marico had instituted two suits before the High Court against Adani Wilmar alleging disparagement. Adani Wilmar, through its TV campaign, had claimed that 'Rice Bran Oil is the Healthiest Oil in the World' for its cholesterol reducing attributes.

The comparison advertisement through print media showed that the quantity of oryzanol in Fortune Rice Bran Health is much higher compared to what is present in leading brands like Saffola Gold and Sundrop Heart. Oryzanol is a cholesterol-reducing natural anti-oxidant.

The court, after discussing the relevant case laws on disparagement at length and Marico failing to make out a prima facie case for grant of interim orders, dismissed the applications of Marico. There has been no change in Fortune Rice Bran's communication on account of the High Court's ruling.
