India TV forayed into ground events with the first edition of the Yuva Awards and honoured youth icons at a glittering ceremony held in New Delhi on Monday. The awards, given away in six categories – Politics, Sports, Music, Film, Television and Business – are an aspirational salute to those youth icons who through their grit and determination have inspired many and shown exemplary leadership and extraordinary excellence in their respective fields with achievements much beyond their age.

Ritu Dhawan, India TV MD & CEO, said, “The young generation of India has shown that they can bring positive change in the mood of the country. With Yuva Awards, we want to acknowledge and salute the budding next generation of India.”

“After the huge success of the awards, we are not going to stop here. We will line up many associated activities around the awards. We are planning to hold seminars and conventions with the youth of this country that will form and mobilise opinions,” added Dhawan.

The winners were selected through a stringent process of nominations through a nation-wide research by C-Voter followed by audience votes.

The detailed deliberations by the jury, chaired by Sarod maestro Ustad Amjad Ali Khan and including the Chairman & Editor-in-Chief of India TV Rajat Sharma, cricketing legend Kapil Dev, VLCC founder Padmshri Vandana Luthra and Prof Pushpesh Pant.
