publive-imageAmidst the glitz and glamour of the communications business, one sometimes tends to forget the serious business issues facing the Media, Marketing and Advertising industry. It is in this backdrop that IAA (International Advertising Association) India Chapter is introducing 'IAA Debates'. It intends to bring back the old style classical debate format back to dwell upon topical serious business issues.

IAA is planning to start its first ever series of 'IAA Debates' on various contemporary, relevant topics that the Marketing. Media and Advertising industry faces. These will be formated in a classic debate style, with some senior professionals speaking 'for' and 'against' the motion and attended by professional colleagues from across the industry.

The topic of the first IAA Debate is “Traditional print and television media are losing relevance in the face of the indomitable growth of digital media”. The venue is Four Seasons, Worli, Mumbai. It will be held on February 18, 2013 (Monday), at 4.30 PM.

Srinivasan Swamy, President, IAA India Chapter, said, “IAA members are senior opinion leaders in the industry and with these debates we intend to drive opinion and trends going forward. As an industry, we all take part in seminars, panel discussions, etc., but do we at all debate face-to-face some serious issues? In my view, the issues are best understood when we debate them with passion.”

Top professionals like Virginia Sharma of IBM and Mahesh Murthy of Pinstorm will speak for, and Sanjay Gupta of Star TV and Arunabh Das Sharma of The Times of India will speak against the motion. The debate will be moderated by Sonali Krishna, Anchor of Brand Equity show on ET Now. The audience is also expected to take active part in the debate.

The IAA is the world's only globally-focused integrated advertising trade association with membership representing Advertisers, Agencies and Media. The IAA comprises Corporate Members, Organisational Members, Educational Affiliates, as well as 56 Chapters with individual members and young professionals from 76 countries including the top 10 economies in the world. lAA is 74 years old and is headquartered in New York.
