Bigg Boss, the show that has gripped millions of Hindi GEC viewers, is now all set to revolutionise entertainment in South India. ETV Kannada has bagged the format rights from Endemol India to produce the biggest and the most acclaimed reality show that has changed the landscape of reality TV in the country. Bigg Boss Kannada will be aired on ETV Kannada in March.

Bigg Boss as a concept has been loved for the last six years, and through ETV Kannada it is entering the regional space for the first time. A show that is a perfect blend of reality and unscripted drama, the Kannada version will see its local newsmakers and celebrities from all walks of life entering the Bigg Boss House.

Southern superstar Sudeep will be introduced in a never seen before avatar on Kannada television as the host of the show, mixing his evergreen charm with the pure entertainment format of the show. Talking about his association with the show, Sudeep said, “Bigg Boss is all about human emotions and it isn't particularly a formated show. It is a reality show in the true sense and is both quick and spontaneous. I am very happy to be associated with the biggest television show of Karnataka market.”

Parameshwar Gundkal, Programming Head, ETV Kannada, said, “Television content is all about storytelling. It deals with emotions and drama of everyday life. Bigg Boss deals with this fact in by far the biggest way. This is the best show available for viewers to get up close and personal with their favourite celebrities.” Commenting on bringing the format to the Kannada GEC space, he said, “Bigg Boss is our next unique offering that will further accelerate and add momentum to our existing bouquet of shows.”

Deepak Dhar, CEO, Endemol India, commented, “Bigg Boss has connected extremely well with Indian audiences because it showcases reality in its truest, unadulterated form. Season after season, it has been the talk of town and to maintain the same amount of fanfare in its Kannada version, we have incorporated a gamut of innovations and new ideas based on our observations and learning from the Bigg Brother format world over. Bigg Boss Kannada is bound to create entertaining content driven by the reality of what each contestant will experience in the Bigg Boss House… real emotions, real drama and real tension.”

Abhishek Rege, COO – Television, Endemol India, added, “Bigg Boss is a popular format globally and we are excited to extend it regionally across India. While the Kannada adaptation of the format is the first step in that direction, we will certainly look at adapting the format in other local languages as well.”
