Close on the heels of the announcement of Sam Ahmed joining Rediffuion-Y&R as Vice-Chairman and Chief Creative Officer, D Rajappa, President, Rediffusion, has put in his papers. He is yet to take a call on his next role. Rajappa had joined as President in December 2010, moving from sister agency Everest Brand Solutions.

An 18-year veteran of Rediffusion, Rajappa came in at a time when the agency was going through a difficult patch. Rediffusion had not only lost Mahesh Chauhan, who was Group CEO, it was also hit by a double-whammy in terms of losing two of its biggest clients – Airtel and Colgate.

When contacted by BestMediaInfo, Rajappa said, “Rediffusion is like my alma mater, I have been with the agency for almost 18 years. I have great regard for the promoters and Arun Nanda, and it was a terrific team that I got to lead. However, there comes a time when you want to try out new things. I am taking a three-four month break to firm up what I want to do next.”

In an internal note, Diwan Arun Nanda, Chairman and MD, Rediffusion, said, “We are grateful to Rajappa for his contribution to the agency during his tenure and wish him the best in his future endeavours.”
