January 21, 2013:

publive-imageThe Delhi gang-rape case has reignited the debate around the safety and security of women in India. To gauge public mood and understand all the aspects related to crimes against women, CNN-IBN will carry out a nationwide survey, State of the Nation Poll, under its Agenda for Change initiative.

The nationwide survey will examine various issues broadly around the efficiency of the Indian criminal justice system in dealing with crimes against women, the responsibility of police and governance, the attitude and approach towards women, harassment in public spaces as well as the impact of media.

Rajdeep Sardesai, Editor-in-Chief, CNN-IBN, IBN7 and IBN-Lokmat, said, “To make a change, we must first get to the root of the problem. With this survey, we want to bring to the fore the most vital issues related to the safety and security of women in India. We hope the findings of this survey will help create a better environment for India's women to live, work and excel with dignity.”

The survey will be conducted in 10 cities across India. These include New Delhi, Mumbai, Kolkata, Chennai, Lucknow, Chandigarh, Jaipur, Cochin, Ahmedabad, and Bangalore.
