Radio Mirchi's grand tribute to music and its World Music Festival culminated in a glorious concert as legendary rock band Indian Ocean and mellifluous singer Shefali Alvares unleashed their musical talents at Hard Rock Café on 28th June. The performance was preceded by Radio Mirchi's innovative initiative World Music Festival that celebrated music from various genres and its influence on Bollywood songs. To give the festival an enthralling end Indian Ocean and Shefali Alveras extended their support by playing some of their chartbusters for the audience present at the venue.

World Music Festival, hosted by RJ Meera and RJ Suren, hit the air waves on 18th June on Sunset Samosa and exhibited the profound influence international music has on Bollywood songs. From genres spanning Jazz, Sufi, Rock, Rap, Punjabi or Classical, the duo invited expert artists from Indian music industry to showcase the rich musical heritage of India. Maestros including A R Rehman, Mika Singh, Daler Mehndi, Shantanu Moitra, Shaan, Shreya Ghoshal, Ila Arun, Papon, Salim Sulaiman, Anu Maleck, Aditi Singh Sharma, Usha Uttup, Rahat Fateh Ali Khan, Ram Sampath, Suraj Jagan, RDB, Blaaze, Honey Singh, Ash King, Clinton, Domnique etc. came forward to extend their support. The festival saw exceptional response from the Mirchi listeners.  For the grand finale of the festival, RJ Meera and RJ Suren extended invitation to a lucky few listeners for live performance by Indian Ocean and Shefali Alveras at Hard Rock Café.

Commenting on this unique initiative, RJ Suren said, “It is astounding how our Bollywood songs sway towards international genres and we hardly notice the roots. And it is not only the songs of today, but also some of the evergreen songs of our industry. World Music Festival's primary aim was to educate and outline the connection and celebrate the beautiful art, Music!”

Agreeing with RJ Suren, RJ Meera quips, “It was like every day treat for our listeners and fans! They tuned in to our show Sunset Samosa, and got to listen to Bollywood songs of one particular international genre. And if that wasn't enough, we had talented and versatile musicians from each genus, talking about and playing songs. I am sure our listeners enjoyed two weeks of musical extravaganza as was a pleasure for us to host Festival.”
