The Andhra Pradesh-based Agri Gold Group is set to enter the broadcast media with the launch of Travel Trendz TV. The channel, dedicated to promoting world travel and tourism, is being introduced in four Indian languages (Hindi, Telugu, Tamil and Bengali) apart from English, and will cater to over 65 per cent of the Indian population. With the tagline ‘Your passport to the Universe’, it aims to become India's first 24x7 tourism channel.
PR Satheesh, who was recently taken on board as President of Travel Trendz TV, said, “The organisation has chosen a space that is dear to me and I feel very passionate about the vision and the mission. It also offers me the challenges and the excitement of a startup that keeps my adrenalin flowing.”
Satheesh joins the channel after a two-year stint with TeliBrahma as President.
Given the fact that India does not have a dedicated travel channel of its own, Travel Trendz TV is planning to capture the untapped market. Satheesh told BestMediaInfo, “This is the biggest plus for us. And we believe, from our research, that the Indian audience is hungry for Indian and International content portrayed in an educative manner and not glamorised content.”
“The channel is poised to be launched soon. The strategies are already in place. We have a very passionate team headed by Abdul Azeem, ED & CEO, and assisted by Tajamul Husain, CSO, who comes with over two decades of international experience, Apurupa Avvas, Director, and Som Banerjee, Channel Head, who believes he can create 48 hours in a day,” informed Satheesh announcing the new appointments.
Promoted by Tourism & Travel Media Entertainment Pvt. Ltd, a company incorporated under the Indian Companies Act, the channel was test launched in April 2011 for beaming through INSAT 4A satellite across a footprint of 48 countries (including China and Japan, Far East, North Africa, Middle East and the Indian sub-continent).
Travel Trendz TV can be viewed worldwide through web-casting. Discussions are on for tie-ups with local partners in various countries for extended coverage in other languages through scripting.
