publive-imageCannes Lions International Festival of Creativity 2012 is in the process of finalising its jury teams for various categories. Manish Bhatt, Founder Director of Scarecrow, would be representing India in the Direct category jury.

Gideon Amichay, former Chief Creative Officer and Joint Managing Partner of Shalmor Avnon Amichay /Y&R Interactive Tel Aviv, Israel from 1994-2011, will chair the Direct Lions jury.

"In the beginning there was Direct. Today, everyone understands that touching people and building true relationships are at the heart of every message and every medium. Direct was, is and always will be the true essence of marketing,” Amichay had said on his appointment.

Scarecrow Communications, with offices in Mumbai & Delhi, is one of the fastest groweing agencies in the country.

A Civil Engineer by qualification, Bhatt started his career as a site engineer with Gujarat State Fertiliser Corporation. But he soon got bored with machines, boilers and chimneys and decided to enter the world of advertising. After earning his Bachelor's degree in Fine Arts from MS University, Baroda, he joined Contract in1995.

In a career spanning 15 years, he has worked with leading agencies like Ogilvy & Mather, McCann Erickson and Ambience Publicis. He has handled brands like Tata Indicom, Aegon Religare, Cadbury, Asian Paints, HSBC, Hanes, Wonderbra, Vaseline, Johnson & Johnson, L'Oreal, Nestle, Eristoff (Bacardi), Barclays, Anchor Panasonic, Viacom 18 and many more.

His work has been recognised by renowned award bodies like Cannes Lions, D&AD, One Show, Clio, Communication Arts, Asia Pacific Awards and many more.

His "Respect the National Anthem" & "Hostel (Eye Bank Association of India)" are some of India's most popular and powerful public service commercials ever, which received appreciation from the United Nations, World Health Organisation and Commonwealth Parliamentary Association.

He was ranked No. 2 (in 2006) and No. 3 (in 2005) in the "Hottest Creative People from India" list, compiled by Campaign Brief Asia Magazine, Australia.

Bhatt is a connoisseur of art, and his office doubles up as an art gallery that promotes young and offbeat talent.
