ESPN Star Sports (ESS) has formally introduced Australian leg spinner Shane Warne as part of the presentation team for the second Test between India and England which starts today, November 23. Warne will be actively involved in promoting cricket related broadcast on ESPN STAR Sports. The legendary Australian spinner was presented an ESS jacket yesterday in Mumbai.

This is the first time that Warne will be commentating for the ESS network. Earlier this year, he had signed a three-year deal to be part of the ESS commentary, presentation and analysis team.

The India-England series is being covered on Star Sports and Star Cricket HD in English and on Star Cricket in Hindi. The English commentary panel includes Rahul Dravid, Sourav Ganguly, Ravi Shastri, Sunil Gavaskar, Sanjay Manjrekar, L Sivaramakrishnan, Paul Collingwood and Harsha Bhogle. Warne thus joins a very illustrious group of analysts most of whom have been adversaries on the field.

Aloke Malik, Managing Director, ESPN Software India, said, “We're delighted to have Shane Warne on board the ESS commentary, presentation and analysis team. His unique experience and no-holds-barred insights will add immense value to ESS's presentation of cricket. Shane continues to share a very strong bond with Indian fans and is extremely popular in the subcontinent. We are confident that cricket viewers will enjoy watching and listening to him in his new role.”

With regard to promoting the series, Malik said that ESS is planning to promote the initiative through television, radio, OOH and digital. However, their main focus is to promote it through television as its reach is wide. ESPN had earlier rolled out three TVCs to promote the series and the innovations being introduced.

On sponsors for the series, Malik said, “We already have one sponsor on board and are looking forward to getting two presenting sponsors and six associate sponsors for the series.”

Commenting on his new role and his association with ESS, Warne said, “I am delighted to be part of the ESPN Star Sports commentary panel. I have some old on-field rivals who are part of the ESS commentary team. I think it will be fun working with them for a change. I am here only for the second Test match between India and England this time but I will be back for the India-Australia series next year.”

ESS has also launched Star Cricket's Hindi presentation with the start of the current series with eminent analysts like Kapil Dev, Navjot Singh Sidhu, Ramiz Raja, Arun Lal and Ayaz Memon.

ESS has always been at the forefront of showcasing the best talent for cricket fans. Warne's announcement comes close on the heels of ESS signing former England captain Kevin Pietersen as part of its presentation and analysis team for the ICC World Twenty20, and former Indian captain Rahul Dravid in its ICC World Twenty20 programming.
