ESPN Star Sports (ESS) has announced that it will boost its coverage of the Spanish La Liga BBVA starting this weekend by featuring the world-renowned studio presentation from Sky Sports on the Spanish football league, beginning with the highly anticipated El Clasico match between Barcelona and Real Madrid on October 8, 2012.

Fans can look forward to the most compelling coverage of the La Liga BBVA as Asia's top sports content provider will include Sky Sports studio presentations for the leagues' matches, featuring match previews and reviews of key matches from current and former managers, as well as professional players.

Familiar names such as ex-Chelsea player Scott Minto will lead the studio presentation, along with Roberto Martinez, Wigan Athletic's manager, to provide expert analysis and insights.

For the El Clasico, viewers will enjoy engaging match commentaries by Rob Palmer, senior Sky Sports commentator, along with former Tottenham Hotspur and Real Mallorca striker, as well as ESS' Spanish football expert Gerry Armstrong from Camp Nou.

This weekend's El Clasico marks the 164th time the title contenders Barcelona and Real Madrid face each other. The pair first met in 1929, where Real Madrid beat Barcelona 2-1 and since then, Real Madrid has narrowly taken the upper hand with 50 victories, over Barcelona's 47. Many of the best football players in the world will feature in this dramatic tie including FIFA Ballon d'Or winners Lionel Messi and Cristiano Ronaldo, as well as the majority of Spain's Fifa World Cup winners. Real Madrid, the current La Liga champions, have had a disastrous start to the season so far, and are currently eight points behind leaders Barcelona who have won all six of their games.

Fans can also look forward to a stellar line-up of guests throughout the season that will include recognisable names such as former Liverpool and Valencia manager Rafa Benitez, ex-Liga BBVA stars such as Real Madrid's Michel Salgado, Barcelona's Albert Ferrer, former Real Madrid manager John Toshack and renowned Spanish journalist Guillem Balague.

Peter Hutton, Managing Director, ESPN Star Sports, said,We're very pleased to announce a long-term cooperation with Sky Sports. Their coverage of the Liga BBVA has always been excellent, and to have analysis from experts who really know the Spanish game is ideal for us.”

Fans can catch the new and enhanced presentation of El Clasico on Star Sports on October 8 at 1.30 AM, just before the match.
