BBH India has announced the promotion of Executive Creative Director Russell Barrett to Managing Partner. The agency has also announced that current Managing Partner Raj Kamble would be leaving BBH to pursue other career opportunities, which he will announce in due course. Kamble had a short stint with the agency, having joined in April 2011 to fill the position left vacant by the departure of Priti Nair.

Sir John Hegarty, Chairman & Worldwide Creative Director, BartleBogleHegarty, said in a statement: “It's always sad when great creative people leave you, but it's even greater when you can promote an outstanding creative leader from within. Russell Barrett has created most of our best work and put BBH India on the creative map. I believe with his creative leadership our Mumbai office will go from strength to strength.”

On his part, Kamble said, “I'm a big fan of Sir John Hegarty. When Sir John asked me to join BBH India I could not say no to him. I left BBDO New York to join BBH India. And I was fortunate to do some wonderful work, working alongside some of the most talented individuals in the industry. I have really enjoyed the renewed energy within the agency, but in this journey a few things didn't work out the way I had envisioned them and have decided to move on to explore other possibilities.”

To recall, Kamble was Senior VP and Creative Director with BBDO Worldwide New York on the global P&G and Gillette businesses, before he returned to India on the BBH assignment.

Russell, who joined BBH India in April 2010 as Executive Creative Director, will join Managing Partners Subhash Kamath and Partha Sinha in leading the Indian operations. In the past year, Russell has led the team to create many talked about campaigns on diverse clients like Google Chrome, TVS Wego, World Gold Council and VAT 69, amongst others.

Barrett said, “It's a real honour to have earned the confidence of Sir John Hegarty and the management team. I'm really excited about stepping up as a partner at BBH India. I'm quite convinced that we're perfectly poised to take BBH to the next level in India: sticking to the BBH vision of being the agency that stands for great strategic thinking and outstanding creativity.”
