GEC Watch: Sony back in action with KBC as weekend topper

Star Plus reduced to three shows in top 10 while Colors retains three spots in weekday programming; Zee holds two positions

KBC is back and it has acquired the top position in the launch week itself. Based on data sourced from TAM subscribers for Week 36 of TAM 2012 (September 2 – September 8), KBC topped the overall programming among Hindi GECs.

Among weekday shows, Star Plus has been reduced to three shows while Colors retained three positions in the top 10 list. Zee TV acquired two positions followed by Sony Entertainment Television, SAB and Life OK with one show each in the top 10 club.

Weekday shows

Diya Aur Baati Hum on Star Plus continues to be the chart topper with an average TVR of 5.3 in Week 36 (last week 5.6).

Colors’ Balika Vadhu has maintained its average TVR at 5.1 in the second consecutive week (last week 5.1).

Star Plus’ fiction show Saathiya is at No. 3 position with an average TVR of 3.8 (last week 3.7).

Yeh Rishta Kya Kehlata Hai on Star Plus is firm at No. 4 with an average rating of 3.4 TVR (last week 3.5).

SAB TV’s Taarak Mehta has climbed one position to No. 5 with an average TVR of 3.3 (last week 3.3).

Pavitra Rishta on Zee TV has climbed two positions to take the 6th spot this week. The show has recorded an average TVR of 3.3 (last week 3.0).

Sony’s flagship fiction show Bade Achche Lagte Hain slipped two positions to No. 7 with an average of 3.2 TVR (last week 3.4).

Colors’ Sasural Simar Ka slipped one position to No. 8, recording an average TVR of 3.1 (last week 3.1).

Another Colors fiction in the top 10 list, Uttaran, recorded an average TVR of 3.0 this week (last week 2.8).

There are two shows at No. 10 this week. Mahadev on Life OK and Punarvivah on Zee TV have recorded 2.9 TVR this week.

Weekend toppers

Among weekend programming, KBC topped the charts followed by DID Super Kids, CID and Jhalak Dikkhla Ja.

KBC 2012 on Sony topped the weekend programming with an average of 5.7 TVR. The show opened at 6.1 TVR on September 7 and recorded 5.3 TVR on September 8.

DID Superkids on Zee TV slipped to No. 2 position with an average TVR of 4.5 TVR in Week 36 (last week 4.4).

Sony’s CID has recorded an average TVR of 3.6 (last week 3.6).

Colors’ celebrity dance reality show, Jhalak Dikhhla Ja, recorded an average of 3.4 TVR this week (last week 2.8).

Sony’s other crime show, Crime Patrol, fetched 3.0 TVR this week (last week 3.5).

Zee TV’s Fear Files has averaged at 2.7 TVR this week (last week 2.9).

Star Plus’ crime fiction Arjun has fetched average ratings of 1.9 TVR (last week 1.9).

Zee TV’s Ramayan recorded 1.2 TVR for the episode on September 2, 2012 at 11 am (last week 1.3).
