Featuring eco-travel adventure, Discovery HD World's new travel series, 'Travel Wild', takes viewers on an exploration of some of the world's most important environmental travel destinations where people are coming together in a bid to preserve the planet. Captured in amazing high-definition detail, the show unfolds the secrets of Mother Nature. Travel Wild airs every Wednesday at 8 PM and repeat on Friday at 10 PM (till September).

Join wildlife filmmaker and adventurer Lin Sutherland, as she embarks on an eco-journey to learn how to travel with minimal impact in some of the world's irreplaceable environments. Each episode showcases stunning destinations and goes below the surface to meet eco-operators, locals and experts who work together to keep that destination so special. The series highlights our world's wonderful natural assets. Sutherland shows viewers that eco-travel is an important part of preserving the future of our environment.

Sutherland partners with Earth Check, the leaders in eco-tourism, to uncover the world's best practices in sustainable tourism. Travel Wild sensitises audiences on the impact of tourism on these incredible destinations and the role of a responsible traveller.

During her journey, Sutherland takes the audience to the stunning Daintree rainforest located in Tropical North Queensland. She hikes through the breathtaking scenery of the world's oldest rainforest, gets pampered under crystal clear spring waters, meets the smiling local crocodile residents and experiences the best in eco-travel within this magical area. She also explores the dramatic scenery of the Great Ocean Road in Victoria and Nitmuluk in the Northern Territory.  She jumps aboard the eco-certified luxurious Kimberley Quest to explore the Kimberley from the ocean, then by coach to view the incredible inland landscapes before finding the perfect resort in the heart of the Kimberley.

During her journey Sutherland camps out on an iceberg, swims in a lake filled with thousands of non-stinging jellyfish and goes in search of the feared Anaconda. She bicycles on salt pans and hikes the peaks of ancient volcanoes. Her accommodations include a luxury bush camp and some of the most dreamy over-water villas. These are all places that operate in a manner designed to preserve the planet and support host communities. They are part of a growing number of operators that are committed to sustainable travel.

Travel Wild is a fun, fast-paced and action-packed series that gets to the heart of eco-adventure which is amazingly raw yet wonderfully refined at the same time.

Some of the episodes in the series are:

Mayan Palace Entertainment: Hop on to eco-expeditions with Sutherland to explore a geographical phenomenon that scientists attribute to the meteors' impacts and learn how the tourism industry and local residents are playing their part in presenting and interpreting the natural and cultural environment in a goal for the long-term future of such a sought after destination. When it comes to the Riviera Maya, the white, sandy beaches, the turquoise colours of the Caribbean Sea and, of course, its colourful wildlife is expected. But what none realises is the habitat, culture and unique things that go with it. It is a place which still preserves its endangered species.

Oamaru, South Island, New Zealand: In her quest to uncover the world's best practice in sustainable tourism, Sutherland lands up in the land of the long white cloud, Aotearoa. Most people know this country as New Zealand, and it has a tourism reputation for being 100 per cent pure. But what is being done to protect this clean, green image? Visit four of Earth Check's certified operators on the South Island who are each taking a different approach to doing their bid. Walk around the historic town of Oamar which is about two-thirds of the way down the South Island of New Zealand on the eastern side which gives a feeling if getting back a hundred years in time.

Sam's Tours, Palau: In this episode, Sutherland embarks on one of the most beautiful places on the earth. The Republic of Palau is really a heaven on earth. With hundreds of tropical limestone islands scattered along the equator surrounded by a barrier reef, beautiful white sandy beaches, vertical drop-offs and forested inland lakes, it is truly a world class environment. It consists of a string of islands along an oceanic ridge in the westernmost part of the North Pacific, around 800 km east of the Philippines, 660 km north of Ngaruangel and 2,000 km north of Australia. The best thing is that this place has also been recently declared a shark sanctuary, and its marine life is second to none, so this opens the door for an incredible sustainable tourism industry.

Port Moresby, Papua New Guinea: Sutherland visits Port Moresby in Papua New Guinea, a country that boasts dramatic natural beauty that is characterized by jungle-clad mountains and underwater reefs. It has over 800 tribes and over 800 different languages and every single tribe has their own customs, their own dances and their own rituals. Palau is an untouched paradise above and below the water line.

Antarctica: Sutherland explores glassy calm Antarctica where barely anybody gets to where she is right now, but looking around and seeing how pristine it looks and how untouched the wildlife is she realises there are some places left on Earth that should stay just the way they are. This journey will take the viewers across one of the wildest stretches of ocean, past the Sub-Antarctic islands to the most southern and isolated continent in the world, Antarctica.
