publive-imageIBN7, in partnership with Pratap University, announces the second edition of Guru Shishya Awards. Saluting this everlasting bond, IBN7 Guru Shishya Awards recognises the extraordinary contributions made by a guru and his shishya, who have kept this sacred Indian tradition alive and achieved success in their chosen fields. These awards will be given away at a grand ceremony in New Delhi on 5th July 2012.

IBN7 Guru Shishya Awards adheres to a process of selection which has the IBN Editorial Board at its core. This Board nominates, deliberates, and after many levels of scrutiny, finalises the winners, keeping in mind their sterling contribution and achievements.

The second edition of this unique initiative will kick-off with a curtain raiser panel discussion on the importance of the glorious guru-shishya parampara. In the panel discussion, renowned danseuse Dr Sonal Mansingh, educationist J S Rajput and IBN7's Managing Editor Ashutosh will discuss how such a unique system of imparting knowledge has evolved over the ages and what does this relationship mean today. The special panel discussion will go on-air on Saturday, 16th June 2012 at 7.30 pm with a repeat on 17th June 2012 at 10.30am.

In addition to the above, IBN7 will telecast the inspiring stories of these gurus and shishyas in three special half-hour episodes starting 23rd June 2012 till 8th July 2012 at 7.30pm on Saturday with a repeat telecast on Sunday at 10.30am.

Speaking about the initiative, Rajdeep Sardesai, Editor-in-Chief, CNN-IBN, IBN7 & IBN-Lokmat, said, “The award is an opportunity to recognise and honour the selfless contribution made by the teachers in moulding the future of their disciples, who, in return, made their mentor proud with outstanding achievement in their respective fields.”

Speaking on the initiative, Ashutosh, Managing Editor, IBN7, said, “Guru Shishya Awards is our humble effort to felicitate the eternal bond between a mentor and his student. We salute the extraordinary effort made by the GURUS that help their SHISHYAS reach the pinnacle of success.”
