Cannes Lions 2012: McCann strikes first Gold for India in Outdoor

The agency has won the first Gold for India this year for its outdoor campaign for Western Union Money Transfer

McCann Worldgroup has picked up India’s first Gold at Cannes Lions 2012 in the Outdoor category. Its billboard campaign FRANKLIN GANDHI/ LINCOLN FAHD/ QUEEN MAO done for Western Union Money Transfer was awarded a Gold Lion in Banking, Investment & Insurance subcategory.

This year, Indian agencies had secured 22 shortlists out of a total of 219 entries submitted.

Besides McCann, Leo Burnett and Brand David had secured four nominations each while Ogilvy and DDB Mudra Group had got three shortlists each. Bates India had two shortlisted entries followed by Grey Worldwide and Draft FCB Ulka with one nomination each.

Last year, India had won three Lions in the Outdoor category including a Silver Lion won by Taproot India complemented by a Bronze each by BBDO India and Sorento Healthcare Communications.
