Colors realigns programming team with Weekday and Weekend Heads

Manisha Sharma appointed as Weekend Programming Head while Prashaant Bhatt will oversee Weekday Programming

Media conglomerate, Viacom18 Media Pvt. Ltd. has gone all out to strengthen its weekend programming with realignment of its programming team with Weekday and Weekend programming heads. Earlier, the channel had concept of Fiction and Non-Fiction programming head. The Hindi General Entertainment Channel has roped in Ex-Sony hand Manisha Sharma as the Weekend Programming Head who comes on board on May 1, 2012 while current fiction head Prashaant Bhatt will oversee Weekday Programming.

As Weekend programming head Sharma will work along with the Weekday Programming Head, Prashaant Bhatt to manage the entire portfolio of fiction and nonfiction content on COLORS. As part of this new role, Manisha will be solely responsible for the shows that air on weekends. Both Prashaant and Manisha will report to Raj Nayak, CEO – COLORS.

The realignment and the structural changes have been set up keeping in mind the need to strengthen the entire week, bringing in concentrated effort towards developing content. This move will bring about more attention on building the channel ahead.

Announcing this appointment, Raj Nayak, CEO, COLORS commented, “We are delighted to have Manisha on board with us. Given her vast experience and thorough knowledge of the industry, I am sure she will bring in the edge and experience in taking Weekend Programming to a new level.” He further added that, “With this dynamic combination of Prashant managing the Weekday Programming and Manisha taking charge of Weekends, we are hoping to make sure that COLORS is a strong player throughout the week and, through this realignment equal focus will be laid on both – weekday and weekend.”  

On joining COLORS as Weekend Head, Sharma said, “I have tremendous appreciation for COLORS’ constant attempts towards providing new and innovative content to the viewers through their shows. I am looking forward to working with this incredibly talented group of people and contribute to the weekend programming.”

Prior to joining COLORS, Manisha was a Senior Vice President with Sony Entertainment Television. She comes with an experience of over 8 years with Sony and has been responsible for developing shows like Comedy Circus, CID, Crime Patrol and Kaun Banega Crorepati and events.

    ok here is somebody with so called 'outsider's perspective.. so called' vast experience' in the industry has not helped anybody .. bade bade maharathi ludak gaye with ecpirence since the inception of television... unless you are creative in the head and a visualizer no scheduling is going to help though it helps to know which program what time seeing the competition too! so good luck to Indian television working on proposal making and musical chairs!
