Dainik Bhaskar Chhattisgarh releases a book on CSR initiatives of companies operating in Chhattisgarh

Dainik Bhaskar Chhattisgarh released a book on Corporate Social Responsibilities initiatives of companies operating in Chhattisgarh. The Book, ‘Industries of CG and CSR - Sustainable Growth for both Society and Business’, was unveiled by BJP National President Nitin Gadkari.
Social responsibility has been a crucial part of Indian Society. Corporate are now playing a critical role in such initiatives aimed at sustenance and social developments. Dainik Bhaskar Group has always been in forefront as a catalyst in enabling socio-economic change. Dainik Bhaskar, Chhattisgarh has collated these examples of exemplary ‘Corporate Social responsibilities’ undertaken by industries in Chhattisgarh. It is aimed at showcasing efforts of identified organisations and has set an example for other to emulate.
Elaborating further on this initiative, Alok Purohit, COO MP, Chhattisgarh and Gujarat said, “CSR activities a form of corporate self regulation, integrated into business model. Corporate world embraces responsibility for the impact of their activities on the environment, consumers, employees, communities, stakeholders and all other members of the public sphere. Many industries in Chhattisgarh have been working in this area but unfortunately their initiatives and efforts remain unknown to public at large. This initiative has been aimed at focussing on such initiatives working toward environment betterment and sustenance” He added “If we want to live in a perfect world, and give that in inheritance to the next generation, Government along with Private corporate sector will have to be motivated to include concern for environment and community in their business plans”
Speaking at the occasion Nitin Gadkari said, “CSR and Politics both share the same objective of socio-economic change, for this to be realised we need to provide constructive empowerment in areas like employment, education, health along with use of alternate energy sources.” He added, “Nation will only grow, when the person at the lower most strata also gets the benefit of socio economic changes. For this to happen, every small and large corporate and even the individual can contribute”
The book takes the reader through the CSR initiatives of companies in private sector like BALCO, Beekay group, BHILAI Engineering Corporation, Development ESSAR, HIRA GROUP, JINDAL, MONNET GROUP, Sarda Energy & Minerals Ltd, ULTRATECH, VISA POWER. It was heartening to note that in addition to private sector there were CSR activities by NRDA and Chhattisgarh Govt Departments like Health, Housing Board, Education and Urban administration.
