The Indian cricket may be getting the drubbing of their life, but the ongoing Test series with Australia Down Under has emerged as the highest rated Test series in the past 12 months, garnering 1.5 TVR (TG CS M ABC 15+ yrs, All India – data till Day 2 of 3rd Test).

This is much better than the India-West Indies Test series played in West Indies which garnered 0.8 TVR. The India-West Indies played in India thereafter garnered 1.4 TVR. And the India-England Test series played in England, where India suffered a 4-0 whitewash, returned an average rating of 1.4 TVR for the same TG.

Interestingly, broadcaster ESPN Star Sports has further supported advertisers with an interesting twist. The broadcaster did not play any advertisement from 5:00 AM to 6:00 AM for the first two matches on their beam as early mornings do not draw significant audiences. The ratings start picking up from 6:00 AM onwards. The third Test which was played in Perth started 8:00 AM IST.  The rating of the first three Test matches, if looked at, from 6 AM onwards is even better at 1.7 TVR.

Regarding the better ratings for the series Down Under, Kailash said, “India-Australia clashes remain one of the most awaited and most anticipated cricket series in the world. There is huge consumer interest and just one good performance from the Indian team will push the ratings even higher.”

In contrast, broadcasters in Australia are finding it difficult to grab enough eyeballs as India has not even once lasted the entire five days on the field.

The fourth and last Adelaide Test began on Tuesday morning.
