BloombergUTV features the Rising Stars of Indian Advertising

To give the budding young marketers, copywriters, art directors and film makers an opportunity to showcase their talent

September 21, 2011:

publive-imageBloombergUTV, India's premier Business news channel has introduced, 'RISING STAR', a segment in the flagship show LOGO, that caters to Marketing, Branding and Advertising professionals. The core objective of Rising Star is to give the budding young marketers, copywriters, art directors and film makers an opportunity to showcase their talent in a free spirit and their individual interpretations of the brief.

The advertising world has been plagued with high attrition rates and there are a host of talented young aspirants looking for a good break. A common issue is the disagreement between professionals and their bosses over the creative philosophy, leading to young talent searching for an avenue of expression. The objective behind RISING STAR is to give these talented young minds an avenue to freely express themselves but in a commercially viable and relevant route.

RISING STAR will be a 6-part special spread across 6 months within LOGO wherein every month SME's with new age brands will partner with LOGO and announce new marketing/branding/advertising projects to spot the next budding advertising / marketing talent. The entries received will be shared with the panel of judges comprising of advertising and marketing gurus like Bobby Pawar, CCO – Mudra; Preeti Vyas, Chairwoman – Vyas Gianetti Creatives and Amitabh Bhattacharya, Founder Partner–Nomad Films.

The entries will be scrutinised by the judges to select one winner every month. At the end of the series, a half-hour special segment on LOGO will feature the judges and the six Rising Stars. The biggest attraction of this initiative is the opportunity of being employed by one of the judges who have promised to hire the best talent emerging from this platform, subject to standard hiring policies of the company.

Bobby Pawar speaking about RISING STAR said, “It's a great initiative to silence an old refrain in our business that there is no new talent. Hopefully, it will inspire agencies to do similar things to attract fresh creative blood.”

The project for this month is from Anita Dongre, the celebrity designer of the well-known brand AND. The task at hand is to design a marketing and branding strategy for the transformation of AND from a women's brand to a fashion brand. This is close on the heels of AND also launching a line of clothing for men.

Anita Dongre, while speaking about the project said, “We are very clear on the look and style of the brand "AND Men". What I want is for the contestants to tell me how to market the fact that we are now going to design for men. One needs to bear in mind that traditionally even as a brand in women's wear we didn't have big marketing budgets to splurge on advertising. Today with the social networking media and the newer possibilities of making people aware of what you are doing, I would love some inputs on the marketing and branding strategy for this brand extension”

Preeti Vyas speaking about RISING STAR said, “This is a wonderful opportunity for young creative minds to get the spotlight on their talent and get noticed. I am sure that this can become a doorway of opportunities for the ones who get shortlisted.”

Amitabh Bhattacharya of Nomad films said, “Nomad Films has been built on new talent. We have had the privilege of working with some really talented young directors but spotting the talent is half the battle, helping them make a mark is a bigger challenge. The future of our business rests on the way we groom these talents. The good news for the new generation is that there is a great demand for talent in India today and will only keep increasing. I thank LOGO for taking this fantastic initiative.”
