Bharat Kapadia quits Lokmat Media as Director

Bharat Kapadia, Director, Lokmat Media has called it a day after 2.5 years with the largest read Marathi daily. His contract with the organization ended yesterday and Bharat Bhai, as commonly known in the industry, decided to return to entrepreneurship.

Speaking with BestMediaInfo.com, Bharat Bhai said, “I have enjoyed my tenure with Lokmat which is now on robust growth path. But entrepreneurship is something which has always attracted me. I'm starting two ventures at a time. One is technology solution venture 'Whatuwant solutions Pvt. Ltd.' with other technology experts in Media domain. My other venture is Media and Marketing consultancy firm named Ideas@BharatKapadia which will focus on generating new ideas for the industry.”

Bharat Bhai had joined the Lokmat Group as a Director on the board in December 2008. At the Lokmat group he has been involved with the overall functioning and growth of the group. An entrepreneur turned professional, Kapadia co-owned and ran Chitralekha Group till few years back as an Editor and Associate Publisher. Prior to this, Kapadia was heading the Jagran Network18 print JV Jagran18 as its CEO and Managing Editor. The plans for the business daily were later shelved. Before that, Kapadia was with Divya Bhaskar as Executive Director for the group.

He also held the Vice Chairman position and was in Board of Directors of Media Research Users Council (MRUC) from September 2009 to March 2011.
