publive-imageKeeping in line with the changing scenario of the print media in India, Lokmat Media Limited has added another high profile dignitary to head its editorial team by appointing Bharatkumar Raut as the Editorial Director for Lokmat Group. Before joining Lokmat, Raut was the Editor in Chief with one of the leading Marathi dailies in India Maharashtra Times.

With an experience of over a decade; Raut has been instrumental in changing the face of journalism in India. With a post-graduation in Political Studies, Raut started his swelling career graph with Doordarshan, the government-owned TV channel, where he worked on Marathi and later English news bulletins.

Speaking on the occasion of his new avatar, Bharatkumar Raut said, “The entire Print Media industry has witnessed a sea change in the past few years. The changing demographics of Indian Population and the growing literacy have brought newer challenges. With this new opportunity, my priority would be to take Lokmat group to greater heights in the new competitive environment. I look forward to this opportunity to contribute my skills and experience towards the growth of the company”.

Speaking on the appointment of Raut, Rishi Darda, Joint Managing Director, Lokmat Media Said, “We are extremely glad to have him on board. We are confident that his experience across the industry would help Lokmat to reach another level of growth.”

Raut was elected as the Member of the Parliament (Rajya Sabha) on 19th March 2008 and was further nominated as a Member on the Committee on Public Undertakings, Standing Committee on External Affairs, Committee on Subordinate Legislation Joint Parliamentary Committee on Offices of Profit and Consultative Committee on Information and Broadcasting.
