Amidst the Cricket World Cup fever where all the Hindi GECs have lost their viewership share, Colors has managed to grow in the 14th week of TAM 2011 and replaced Star Plus to take the No.1 spot after a long gap. Exactly 2 years ago, Colors had halted Star Plus’ dream run as the top general entertainment channel in terms of TRPs (TV rating points) within less than a year of its launch. Then the channel remained as No.1 channel for about one year until Star Plus regained the top spot in March 2010.
By adding 28 GRPs in the 14th week of TAM 2011, the new No.1 Hindi GEC 'Colors' has taken a lead of 39 GRPs from Star Plus. According to the TAM data released for 14th week of 2011, Colors has garnered 300 GRPs (last week 272).
Pushed at No.2 by Colors, Star Plus has again lost 30 GRPs this week. The channel had bounced back firmly to its No.1 position last year post re-branding in July and crossed 400 GRPs for several weeks. However, Star Plus had recorded the GRPs below 300 points for 5 weeks this year. The channel has garnered 261 GRPs as compared to 291 in the last week.
Zee TV has further lost 16 GRPs to come down to 171 GRPs. In the week 13, the channel had garnered 187 GRPs.
SAB has again replaced Sony Entertainment Television to become the No.4 Hindi GEC though it has lost a few GRPs this week. The comedy channel has recorded 127 GRPs this week (last week 136).
Coming down to No.5 position in the week 14 of TAM 2011, Sony Entertainment Television has seen the loss of 39 GRPs. Sony has recorded 120 GRPs this week (159 last week).
The No.6 player Imagine TV has also seen a dip of 11 GRPs in the 14th week to settle down at 70 GRPs (last week 81).
Star One has garnered 28 GRPs (last week 30) while Star Utsav is at 27 GRPs (last week 29) and Sahara One is at 22 GRPs (last week 25).
