NewsX Signs Up Geoffrey Boycott For World Cup

The channel has already Javagal Srinath and Roger Binny on its expert panel.

BestMediaInfo Bureau | Delhi | February 18, 2011

publive-imageAfter signing up Indian cricket legends Javagal Srinath and Roger Binny, NewsX has added the inimitable Geoffrey Boycott to join the all-star expert panel for the ICC World Cup.

Amongst the game's great batsmen, Boycott's career as commentator has been as colorful and and controversial as his cricketing. Never one to pull his punches, Boycott is uncaring about reputation and tells it as he sees it. His knowledge and understanding of the game make him one of the most sought after cricketers across the globe.

Boycott enjoys cult status in India. His observations -- prickly, astute, entertaining -- all delivered in typical Yorkshire accent, have made him a favourite amongst cricket followers in this country.

NewsX Co-founder, Jehangir S Pocha said, Geoffery Boycott is a household name wherever cricket is played and his expertise needs no validation. Needless to say we are delighted to have a person with such enormous knowledge and goodwill on our expert panel along with Srinath, Binny, Anjum Chopra, Rohan Gavaskar, Aakash Chopra and Ayaz Memon.''

On his association with NewsX, Boycott said, “I am delighted and look forward to working with the young and energetic sports team at the channel during the World Cup. Elated at my association with NewsX and look forward to work with the young and energetic brigade during the upcoming Cricket World Cup. I promise viewers an objective view and a lot of fun”

Veteran Sports Journalist Ayaz Memon, who is also part of News X's expert panel, said, “It is always a pleasure to share the same platform with Geoffrey Boycott. Nobody knows the game better or has sharper insights.''
