Dainik Bhaskar Group staunchly believes that despite technological advancements in India there is no substitute to printed reading material like Newspaper. At the same time the group considers it as a responsibility to continue involving and inculcating reading habit in the next generation. With this objective, Bhaskar Champs Club (BCC) was started in 2010 aimed at providing platform to students enriching them with knowledge, practical wisdom & creativity. This club with more than 50,000 school students as members across 30 cities in 7 states aims at achieving this with focus on developing reading habits of the ‘Gen-Next’. The Bhaskar Champs Club covers Madhya Pradesh, Chhattisgarh, Rajasthan, Chandigarh+Punjab, Haryana, Himachal Pradesh & Jharkhand.

Under Bhaskar Champ, Dainik Bhaskar Group has now announced a large scale young-reader-engagement program ‘JUNIOR EDITOR – 2011’. The newspaper aims to double the connect level to 100,000+ participants/members in coming months with roll-out of Junior Editor-2011. There will be a largest manual newspaper making competition across the nation which will be a unique experience for the participants in making the largest collection of manual newspapers by students from class 1st to 12th. The participants will follow a given template with multiple space for creativity in columns like ‘Cartoon & Caricature” and ‘Ad Mad – Creativity at its best’. The bulk of the manual newspapaer will be devoted to their detailed observations and comments in form of News and Articles.

The whole idea is to lead the students in the direction of their interest, in a progressive manner.

Bhaskar Champs in recent time has concluded two major activities. ‘Bhaskar Champs Scrapbook' more than 15,000 kids participated across 19 cities. The 9 winners received award by Bollywood star Aamir Khan. JUNIOR PICASSO (A National Level Painting Competition) with participation from 22,000 students from 6 states and 30 cities. Ambika Soni (Union Minister- Information & Broadcasting) presented their awards at a gala function in Delhi. The winner paintings were used for a limited edition table calendar.

Speaking at the launch, Vinay Maheshwari; Vice-President, Corporate SMD, Dainik Bhaskar Group said, “We intend to organize such complementing interactions and programs. We see ourselves as partner-in-excellence development with willing schools contributing toward 360 degree development of the students. In last one year “Bhaskar Champs Club” has come a long way in generating intellectual, innovative and perceptual built-up reader activities" Next from the Club ‘Junior Editor- 2011’ is a custom style manual newspaper making contest for the members of Bhaskar Champs Club.
