CNN-IBN Indian of the Year-2011 unveils nominees for politics

With the stage set for the biggest award in Indian media, CNN-IBN India's most awarded English News Channel brings to light the efforts of the political luminaries. The special half hour episode will feature various personalities nominated under this category who have shown excellence in political leadership. The special show will be aired on Monday, Dec 12th @ 10 PM on CNN-IBN.

The nominees for the 6th Edition of CNN-IBN Indian of the Year '11 under Politics category are as follows:

• J JAYALALITHAA: For virtually decimating her political opponents and managing a stunning comeback in the state of Tamil Nadu.

• JAIRAM RAMESH: For being one of the most pro-active, decisive and quick thinking ministers of the UPA government.

• MAMATA BANERJEE: For winning West Bengal and creating history through an unprecedented demolition of an over three decade Left rule.

• SALMAN KHURSHID: For being his government's and party's principal fire-fighter and emerging as the most acceptable voice for discussions with non-political opponents.

• SUSHMA SWARAJ AND ARUN JAITLEY: For jointly raising the stature of political articulation in Parliament through their speeches as Leader of Opposition.

• TARUN KUMAR GOGOI: For achieving an unprecedented hat-trick of electoral victories in Assam and effectively stemming discord in the state.
