Reaches 6 million hits on FB page through Soundcloud

December 14, 2011:

After setting a Guinness record for the longest hours of radio hosting, 92.7 BIG FM, Chennai’s No.1 melody station is creating buzz again, thanks to its evening show host RJ Balaji who has become an online sensation, for his light hearted humor with his ‘Crosstalk’ segment that has caught the fancy of net savvy Tamilians across the world.

All that RJ Balaji had to do was to use the sound cloud application and put up his popular prank call link from the “Cross Talk” segment of his show “Take It Easy” (6 p.m. to 9 p.m.) ( and the rest is history. Infact, official Soundcloud blog has featured this initiative by 92.7 BIG FM among the best practices by a Radio Channel world-wide on Soundcloud (

The number of HITS had crossed 1.3 million in just 10 days of its inception. Besides India, most of the downloads were from the U.S. (over 26 per cent), 9% from UK, the UAE, Singapore and even Seychelles, Germany and Spain, all courtesy the huge Tamil population out there yearning to listen to programmes from Chennai. In “Cross Talk”, RJ Balaji calls up unsuspecting strangers using numbers provided by their friends. He pretends to be everything from the boy next door, a father protesting his son being beaten up to an HR executive offering extravagant salaries.

Today RJ Balaji’s Facebook page has over 6 mililion hits through Soundcloud, 2.75 Lakh profile views on Facebook and 1.23 lakh likes on Soundcloud.

92.7 BIG FM’s online initiatives have been getting some great response in the recent past. For instance, the BIG Green Ganesha FB application registered more than a 70000 hits in just two weeks of the festival time. Its FB page has crossed more than a lac likes. The platform also helps BIG RJ’s to be in touch with their listeners & strengthen interactivity beyond the radio show.
