The continuing success of the Grand Kerala Shopping Festival (GKSF), the much-awaited shopping festival for enthusiasts from all over the world for the last four years, has been a cheering reason for some of the best brands of the country to join hands with it.

South Indian Bank, Malabar Gold, Big Bazar, World Gold Council, Josco Jewellers and Bhima Jewellers have signed a strategic brand alliance with the Ministry of Tourism, Government of Kerala, and will be associated with the 5th GKSF commencing from December 1, 2011.

South Indian Bank, one of the fastest growing banks from South India, has come on board as the Title Sponsor. With this brand alliance, the bank expects to enhance its brand connect on a national and global scale.

Dr Rathan Kelkar, Director, GKSF, said, “With the increasing number of sponsorships, member establishments and rewards to visitors in the form of prizes, the Grand Kerala Shopping Festival has become a growth engine not only for Kerala, but also for participating brands. We have seen almost 87 per cent growth in terms of member participation from 2007 till the last edition of GKSF. This is proving to be an apt platform for marketers to realise their branding strategies of reaching out to a vast mass of consumers.”

In 2007, at the first GKSF, 2,195 members had participated as trade partners and the last GKSF in 2010 saw a presence of 6,305 member participants.

It will reinforce our positioning in the banking industry and change our status from a regional bank to a bank for the globe.”

Another brand that has come on board is ‘Malabar Gold’ as an Associate Sponsor. It is a popular jewellery brand name with a strong presence in South India and with over 60 retail outlets countrywide.
