Mudra appoints Sharmila Malekar as Sr. VP, Mudra West

She has long experience in brand building and consumer research, and has worked at some top agencies

Mudra India has appointed Sharmila Malekar as Senior Vice-president at Mudra West. Until recently, she was Managing Partner at Mind Mirror, a research and strategic consultancy. She will report to Arijit Ray, President, Mudra West, and will help strengthen in businesses like ITC, Jyothy Laboratories, Electrolux, Kalpataru, Emami, HPCL and Godrej.

With long experience in brand building and consumer research, Malekar has been in the industry for 18 years. She started her career with Lintas where she worked on brands like Liril and its brand extensions Shower Gel and Talc, Liril Icy soap and Liril skincare soap. She has also worked on J&J feminine hygiene for their Stayfree and Carefree range.

At Ogilvy & Mather, Malekar has worked as business head on Dove, Aviance Beauty Solutions, Tata Sumo and Tata Safari among others. She has also worked with Mudra DDB as VP on the Godrej franchise, Big Bazaar (Future Group) and LIC. Subsequently, she moved to Publicis Ambience to head P&G's Vicks and Marico portfolio.

Announcing the appointment, Ray said, “Sharmila comes on board with a rich experience of overseeing a wide spread of brands in the FMCG, automotive, entertainment and beverages space, across some of the best agencies in the country like Ogilvy, Lowe and Publicis. We are looking forward to her experience in consolidating and building on some of our most important client relationships at Mudra West.”
