publive-imageA few months back, there was a lot of drama when Sony Entertainment Television expressed its intention to borrow an international format of reality show on wife swapping for Indian viewers. Later on, the channel turned the concept into mother swapping in the name of Indian values. Now, it has announced the launch of its new big reality show Maa Exchange on 12th January at 9 pm which will show 2 mothers swapping their families for 10 days.

So, discover 'Maa Exchange' a fresh reality show the likes of which has never been seen on Indian television before – where each week two very different families from across the country participate in a week-long challenge. Women from disparate backgrounds and cultural mindsets exchange homes and try to discover how daily life is while living in another woman's shoes! This astonishing experiment will change lives and make you question long held beliefs about running the household and how you take care of your family.

The edgy and eye-opening show came about with the key insight that while every woman's home is her bastion, and she believes that she is the best home maker, Maa Exchange challenges this basic belief and questions the confidence of women. Each woman will be exposed to a totally new environment which will challenged long held beliefs - her indispensability at home, while she exchanges places and runs another woman's household for a week, and sets their own rules/regulations and manages the family members. The highs and lows of these experiences and the learning and realization as a result of the swap makes this show standout amidst the clutter. An enriching experience for every woman.

With Surekha Sikri at the helm, acting as sutradhar of Maa Exchange and participants from varied backgrounds – different cultures, different socio-economic backgrounds and a healthy mix of common people & celebrities – sparks are sure to fly – leading to not only life lessons but engrossing, electrifying entertainment. The show plans to go where no other show has gone yet “The great Indian family”. MAA Exchange ushers a new era in reality programming with elements which everyone can relate to but still make engaging viewing due to the unique situations.

Puja Bedi, Rajeev Nigam and Anuradha, Zehra and Farookh Merchant, Antima and Sujit Raute, Apara Mehta and Sudesh Berry are among the celebrities participating in the show with many more to follow.

Speaking about the show N.P Singh, COO Multi Screen Media said, “Sony has always been at the forefront of innovation with Indian Idol or Jassi or the new revived KBC .With Maa Exchange we expect to raise the bar once again. Through this show we plan to bring to the fore real Indian families with their own share of problems and possible ways they can deal with it when they get a new perspective. The show will mirror the times we live in and how mothers are incessantly trying to cope with the pressures of modern day family.”

Added Ajit Thakur, EVP and Business Head, Sony Entertainment Television, “We at Sony expect Maa Exchange to become a harbinger of societal change as it will be a vehicle of improving oneself and family. The show, while borrowed from the international format, has been designed keeping Indian values in mind. The content will be in line with Indian society and its beliefs. The aim is to bring an alternate perspective to our women participants and viewers and offer high quality, engaging, and alternate content on weekdays prime.”
