Zee Cafe to telecast Miss Universe 2011 live

With simulcast on Zee Studio and Zee Trendz; the event goes live on Tuesday, 13th Sept, at 6:30 am.

Zee Café presents the glamorous 60th annual Miss Universe pageant, featuring some of the world's most talented and beautiful women. Miss Universe 2011 will be aired live exclusively in India on Zee Café. Miss Universe 2011, the 60th anniversary of the Miss Universe pageant, will be held at the Credicard Hall, in São Paulo,Brazil on September 12, 2011. Ximena Navarrete of Mexico will crown her successor. Contestants from 89 countries and territories will be up for the title, surpassing the previous record of 86 contestants in 2006.

Miss Universe will additionally be simulcast on Zee Studio and Zee Trendz. Zee Café has roped in Aaj tak, Radio City, 160by2, Fun Cinemas and Whats on India as partners for promotion of the beauty pageant. In the first of its kind initiative, Zee Café has created a special on air prequel as a lead on to the main event, called Diaries of a Diva. The segment would start off with the Indian representative for Miss Universe last year Ushoshi, interviewing Sushmita Sen and sharing her experiences .The segment would also cover a day in the life of Vasuki, India's representative for Miss Universe this year. It would focus on her daily grooming before the event.Interview with a panel of grooming experts and designers. Experts like Dr. Nirmal Shetty – Hair expert , Dr. Trasi – Skin expert , Dr. Gaba – Dental Expert , Pooja Makhija – Deitician and Nutrition expert, Nupur and Israar – Fitness Expert , Kryolan – Make-up Expert could be seen grooming Vasuki for the day. Designers like Rajat Tangiri , Neeta Lulla , Shantanu and Nikhil  and Manjiri Jindal are all out with their master pieces to ensure Vasuki is at her best…Zee Café is also running on air contest. The website hosts a microsite for Miss Universe where people could send in their pictures. The lucky winner would get a chance to be groomed by the experts.

The jury panel of Miss Universe 2011 comprises of Hélio Castroneves, Connie Chung, Isabeli Fontana, Vivica A. Fox, Adrienne Maloof, Lea Salonga, and Amelia Vega. The show would be presented by Natalie Morales, Andy Cohen, Jeannie Mai and Shandi Finnessey.

For the first time in the pageant's history, candidates' supporters 16 years of age or older “may vote online up to 10 times per e-mail address per day." Online voting began last August 19 and will end on September 11 at www.nbc.com and www.missuniverse.com. The winner of the online voting will gain an automatic spot into the semifinals of the pageant.

The contestants representing 89 countries around the world will compete in three categories: swimsuit, evening gown and interview.
