Sony puts viewers in redemption mode with 'Prayaschit, Gunahon Ke Zakhm'

The new show, to air every Friday at 9 PM starting September 9, will focus on real-life criminals who are haunted by guilt for their act.

Sony Entertainment Television (SET) has unveiled its new show 'Prayaschit, Gunahon Ke Zakhm', continuing with the tradition of bringing differentiated content. Produced by Saregama India, the show is based on theme that every individual, during his life span, does something wrong which at some point of time comes back to haunt him. The show will start airing from September 9, 2011, in the 9 pm prime time band every Friday.

'Prayaschit…' will for the first time ever on the small screen give a glimpse into the lives of the criminals who are living with the burden of guilt and seeking redemption. The show will feature real life criminals while the re-enactment would be with actors.

The show will be hosted by Tisca Chopra. It will feature characters such as Seema Parihar, the notorious bandit who allegedly killed 70 people and abducted over 200 before surrendering to the police in Kanpur in 2003; Laxman Gole, who was sucked into the vortex of crime after he slashed his neighbour with a razor and went on to form a dreaded gang in Kurla; and Samunder Singh, who was used by his friends to stab a Catholic nun working in their village for the betterment of Adivasis.

Commenting on the launch of the show, Sneha Rajani, Senior EVP and Business Head, SET, said, “Prayschit… is different  from all other shows, it has a unique and innovative concept, wherein we will get to see real stories of crime and criminals who have committed heinous acts and who are now seeking redemption. We have always striven to give our viewers engaging and differentiated viewing content and this is one more step in that direction.”
